The Resurrection of Jesus Christ

The following is an excerpt of the article 'What happens when people die – Is there a heaven?' - https://www.aworlddeceived.ca/articles/what-happens-when-people-die-is-there-a-heaven

“The believers do not die, but rather go to sleep (Deut. 31:16: Matt. 27:52; John 11:11-13; 1 Cor. 15:51; 1 Thess. 4:13-15; 2 Peter 3:4), and will rise with Christ when He returns to live and reign with Him for a thousand years (Rev. 20:4). Studying the Greek word ‘koimao’ that was used in the Word of God, it means: to put to sleep or fall asleep, to indicate a temporary condition. Some people like Abraham have been asleep for more than 4000 years (Moses 3200 years, the apostles 2000 years) to await the return of Jesus Christ (God in the flesh).”

God came into this world in the name of Jesus Christ to confirm through His resurrection, that He would return as King of Kings and Lord of Lords of His Kingdom (Revelation 20:16) and this is the hope of every believer. Without the resurrection the hope of every believer would be all in vain (1 Cor. 15:12-22).

All power in heaven and in earth was given unto Christ (Matthew 28:18; Daniel 7:13; Eph. 1:21; Phil. 2:9; 1 Peter 3:22; Rev. 17:14).

The problem of the origin and universality of sin upholds the whole moral teaching of the Old Testament, just as the salvation from sin offered in Jesus Christ is fundamental to the message of the New Testament. The first is probably one of those problems which the human mind can never satisfactorily answer (1 Cor. 2:14; Romans 8:7). We can however, say that had there been no such thing as human sin, we could never have known God in all His fullness as a merciful God, one of whose characteristics is that of forgiving love, revealed unto mankind in Jesus Christ.

God came into this world in the name of Jesus Christ to take away the sins of the world (John 1:29; 1 Cor. 15:3; Gal. 1:4; Hebrews 1:2; 2:17; 9:28;1 John 2:2; Re. 1:5).

This was also accomplished through His resurrection. The resurrection of Jesus Christ was not just for the time when He returns to earth and for the people that have died in Christ and that will rise with Him, but also applies to this life and how the believers overcome the flesh and our sinful nature through His resurrection.

As the believers continue to seek God how to overcome the flesh and their sinful nature, we have learned that the Spirit that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken our mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in us, that we no longer live after the flesh: but through the Spirit shall mortify the deeds of the body, and shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God (John 1:12).

All of the above has been written and explained in Chapter 8 of the Book of Romans. The resurrection completes the full mystery of God, which was kept secret since the world began (Romans 16:25) and explains why God came down to earth in the name of Jesus Christ and died for our sins, as through the resurrection we have a way to die to our sins and overcome our sinful nature (John 5:24; Acts 2:24; 17:31; Romans 6:5; 8:11; 1 Cor. 6:14; 2 Cor. 4:14; 5:17; Gal.2:20; 6:15; Eph. 2:4-7; Col. 3:1-3,10). That is why the carnal mind and the mind of the flesh is enmity with God (Romans 8:7) and why the natural man remains separated from the only true and living God (1 Cor. 2:14).
